Boost city gas pressure to 150 psi / 10 bar for HVOF
TB-HVOF Torch Boosters
TB-HVOF boosts low pressure city natural gas as high as 150 psi / 10 bar for High Velocity Oxy-Fuel thermal spray applications. With utility gas supply as low as 1/4 psi / 7" WC TB-HVOF can supply up to 500 cfh, enough gas flow for a single HVOF station. With building gas supply at 15 psi / 10 bar TB-HVOF can fuel two HVOF systems simultaneously.
TB-HVOF is compact, quiet and normally installed indoors near the spray booth. The only controls are ON and Off, once started the Torch Booster will automatically adjust to the gas flow demand of the spray system. When gas is not being used, such as when setting up the next spray job, breaks, lunch, etc. TB-HVOF puts itself into recirculation mode - it does not require operator attention during the day. Turn the unit off after the last job of the day.
TB-HVOF is ready for service as soon as it is turned on - there are no storage tanks to fill.
The system incorporates Booster and Cooler Modules in a single cabinet.
Typical Applications
TB-HVOF is designed for HVOF applications where gas pressure is up to 150 psi / 10 bar and the gas flow rate is up to 500 cf/hr. However, it can be be used for many other applications such as motor testing, burner design, fuel cell research and development and more where the demands of the application fall with the pressure and flow capacities of the Torch Booster.
Technical Description and Installation
TB-HVOF cabinet measures 50 1/2" W x 33" D x 32" T / 128cm W x 84cm D x 81cm T and weighs 550 pounds.
In North America electrical power should be 208V 60 Hz, single phase 40 amp service. Internationally 230V 50Hz 40 amp systems are available.
Gas supply should be between 1/4 to 5 psi / .017 to .33 bar for systems fueling one HVOF system; supply pressure can be up to 15 psi /1 bar when the TB-HVOF will fuel two spray systems. Supply gas pipe should be at least 1 1/2" diameter in either case. Pipe reduces to 3/4" for final connection to the TB-HVOF.

Scheduled maintenance includes changing a filter drier and two check valves every 2,000 hours of operation. Oil filters are replaced after first 500 hours of operation then oil and filters are changed every 6,000 hours of operation.
Until now using natural gas for HVOF required a large, expensive compressor installed outdoors on a concrete pad with costly welded high pressure pipe running through the building to the spray booth. Frequently a building permit is required to install this type of compressor.
By contrast a TB-HVOF Torch Booster is compact and installed indoors right next to the spray booth. No permits are required, no extensive piping through your building.
